Anthony’s passion for youth development and creating social change lead him to an education career path. Most recently, he has been a K-5th grade science teacher and 4th grade self-contained classroom teacher. In the past Anthony has been an assistant pre-k teacher, a tutor in a 4th and 5th grade school as an AmeriCorps member, an academic mentor for 104 first year college students, and involved in ESL tutoring and mentoring.
Anthony’s educational experience is about as diverse as his teaching experience. In 2009 he received two associates of applied science degrees (agricultural business, the other in agricultural production and management). Three years later he graduated from his alma mater, Southern Illinois University, with a B.A. in sociocultural anthropology and a minor in sociology. Anthony is currently pursuing a masters of arts in teaching- elementary at Oakland University where he will graduate in 2014.
At his most recent teaching job, Anthony designed and implemented a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports System (P.B.I.S.) for the entire elementary school.
